[post] Frustrated by fragile fingernails? Try this.

January 24, 2008 at 8:35 am (Let's Discuss) (, , )

Frustrated by fragile fingernails? Try this. [By Lisa Kovalovich]

nails.jpg

Many women are plagued by fingernails that split and crack. What’s causing this? Like body shape, skin tone, and hair texture, our nails’ ability to grow is largely hereditary — so if your mom had weak nails, you’re likely to have them, too. That said, there are things you can do to avoid much of the splitting:

Protect your nails from water. Keep your hands out of H2O, since water can actually dry out nails, causing them to split. Be sure to wear gloves when doing dishes or cleaning.

Apply hand cream religiously. Look for a rich formula, which will seal moisture into nails, making them stronger and more flexible. And be sure to slather on cream every time you wash your hands. Dermatologists often recommend Elon Lanolin-Rich Nail Conditioner (found at www.ilovemynails.com).

Limit use of nail polish remover. It contains alcohol and other chemicals which make nails brittle. Use remover no more than once a week.

Buff instead of polish. Nail polish can have a drying effect on weak nails. To get a shiny, polished effect, try a buffer. The friction it creates actually stimulates nail growth.

Keep nail length manageable. Go for no more than a quarter-inch beyond the tip of your finger, and keep nails filed into resilient soft ovals.

If you try the above with no success, consult a dermatologist.

Short Hair Look

January 15, 2008 at 10:16 pm (Let's Discuss)

sub_photo_01m.jpg A cute, bouncy medium-length hair style. The honey-colored yellow-based color gives hair a bright, active look, and also brightens up your face too! This style is finished using Hair Wax applied to the ends of hair in sections to add shape. It’s also great because it makes the face appear smaller, with the ends of hair flicked out at the bottom.

sub_photo_01b.jpg sub_photo_01s.jpg To achieve that look…normal wax product is handy to style & hold the shape.

Step 1: Flip out the ends of hair whilst blow-drying by hand. The secret to getting this style to hold is to blow-dry the hair in a semi-dry state.

sub_photo_01p2.jpg

Step 2: After blow-drying the sides, take a small amount of Hair Wax and rub it onto your fingers. Lightly tug small sections of hair ends with wax to give hair some movement.

To re-touch when hair is messy, avoid using comb. Slightly style the hair & edge with a fingers (slightly dam the hand before touch-up)

Note: use sparely on wax, do not comb the hair with wax. Trick is minimal touch of wax at finger tips.

Magical Clear

January 3, 2008 at 8:37 pm (Let's Discuss) (, , , , )

Magical Clear – Kiss Me (made in Japan)

Detail description: Dissolve oil serum & blackheads or white heads after applying.

Instruction: apply on the nose area. wash it off after 10 minutes.

Where to buy? Watsons & SaSa

Price: Less than $20 [forget the actual pricing]

dsc00246.jpg

Smell: fragrance not so noticeable (or should i say its not even nice fragrance as it does smells like glue)

Texture: colourless thick liquid that does not feel too sticky.

Apply: it drys up very quickly after i apply.

Effect: cant see much effect from the 1st use, i persist using it for more than 1 week then starts to see the effect & use of it. Have been using it for more than 1 month, but no sign of irritation of skin.

My recommendation: try to apply generous amount onto nose area before washing your wash. let the solution soak for more than 10minutes & rinse. You can wash it off with a scrab after that for better effect.

But for me, i like to squeeze those blackheads as i find once consider sturbon blackheads on my nose are easily removed with minimal pressure. Thus reduces all my trouble & pains. Regular use actually cleans pores much easier than before.

 Rating: 4/5 [i love it]
